The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) management has announced the temporary relocation of the orientation camp in Plateau State.

NYSC’s spokesperson, Eddy Megwa, disclosed in a statement that the orientation camp in Plateau State has now been relocated from Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) to Jos, the capital of the state.

Megwa noted that the orientation camp will now be held at the Waye Foundation, Dio-Du, Jos.

“This is to inform members of the public, especially our esteemed prospective corps members, that the venue of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream One Orientation Camp for Plateau State has been changed from the Permanent Orientation Camp in Mangu to Waye Foundation by Buken Academy, Doi-Du (Temporary NYSC Orientation Camp) in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State,” Megwa said.

He added that all prospective corps members are required to report to the Waye Foundation near Buken Academy, the new orientation camp, on the designated dates specified in their call-up letters.

While the specific reasons for this decision were not disclosed by the NYSC, it is likely due to the worsening security situation in the state, particularly in Mangu Local Government Area (LGA).

The Lagosian reports that Plateau State Government imposed a 24-hour curfew on the Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) following a series of attacks that resulted in the loss of lives and property in the area.

The ugly situation led to the death of not fewer than 13 people. To avoid reprisal and escalation of the situation, the state government announced the imposition of a 24-hour curfew in Mangu.
