Ifo, Ogun State — Controversial street musician, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, was on Tuesday, April 29, convicted by a Magistrate Court in Ifo, Ogun State, on multiple charges including resisting arrest, obstructing government officials in the discharge of their duties, and assault.
The charges stemmed from an incident that occurred at his Odogwu Bar in Oke-Osa, Ogun State, several months ago, during which Portable was seen in viral videos confronting and assaulting law enforcement officers.
The court found him guilty and handed down a sentence of three months imprisonment. However, the musician was offered an option of a N30,000 fine in lieu of jail time. Portable paid the fine and was subsequently released.
Though he has avoided time behind bars, Portable now bears the legal status of an ex-convict, marking a significant turn in the career of the outspoken artist known for his controversial persona.
