LAPO Microfinance Bank has received multiple industry recognitions for its contributions to financial inclusion, MSME development, social impact and sustainability, further strengthening its position as a key player in Nigeria’s inclusive finance ecosystem.
The Bank was named Microfinance Bank of the Year and Social Impact Company of the Year at the Industry Awards, while its commitment to sustainable development earned it the Green Icon Award from GreenPlinth Africa.
Its impact on Nigeria’s small business ecosystem was also recognised by the Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN), which presented LAPO MfB with three distinctions: Highest Impact on MSMEs in Nigeria, Highest Impact in DBN Focus States, and Highest Impact in the South-South Zone.
The Bank was further recognised as Best Microfinance Bank by the Association of Small Business Owners of Nigeria (ASBON).
Adding to the growing list of recognitions, LAPO MfB received a recognition Award from the Office of the Special Adviser on Climate Change and Circular Economy, Lagos State, for its contribution to climate action and sustainable development.
Speaking on the recognitions, the Director of Marketing and Communications, LAPO Microfinance Bank, Oluremi Akande, said the awards were less about accolades and more about the lives, businesses and communities impacted by the Bank’s work.
“For us, these recognitions are not simply awards to display; they are evidence that our work is creating real value where it matters most. Every entrepreneur who expands a business, every woman who gains greater economic independence, and every community that gains access to more sustainable opportunities represents the impact we exist to create.”
He added that LAPO MfB would continue to deepen its interventions across financial inclusion, MSME financing, women’s economic empowerment and sustainable finance.
“Our ambition is clear: to make finance a catalyst for opportunity. We will continue to innovate, build partnerships and take financial services closer to the people and businesses that need them most. The responsibility that comes with these recognitions is to do even more.”
The breadth of the recognitions reflects LAPO MfB’s integrated approach to development, combining access to finance with enterprise support, social investment and sustainability initiatives.
For LAPO MfB, the latest honours represent not an endpoint, but a reaffirmation of its commitment to using inclusive finance to drive enterprise growth, expand economic opportunity and build more resilient communities across Nigeria.
