Lagos residents, visitors and cultural enthusiasts on Friday converged on Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) for the 2025 Adamu Orisa play, popularly known as the Eyo Festival.
The annual festival, one of Lagos’ most iconic cultural events, celebrates the state’s rich heritage and is traditionally held to honour departed monarchs and distinguished personalities.
Several dignitaries are expected at the event, including state governors, top government officials and President Bola Tinubu, a Lagos indigene.
The Eyo Festival is renowned for its colourful procession, elaborate masquerades, and the display of traditional music and rituals, drawing large crowds of spectators from across the country and beyond.
Authorities had earlier announced traffic diversions around key routes leading to the venue to ensure smooth movement and security during the festivities.
