During an April 5 site tour of Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL) in Ilesha, Osun State, Minister of Solid Mineral Resources, Mr. Dele Alake, praised the significant strides made by the facility. Noteworthy was the revelation that over 95% of SROL’s workforce comprises Nigerians, a fact that garnered acclaim during the visit.

Mr. Dele Alake urged other operators within the mining sector to emulate the exemplary practices demonstrated by SROL. Emphasizing the importance of local participation, the Minister underscored the project’s status as a wholly Nigerian endeavor, describing it as commendable and worthy of replication.

Highlighting a strategic agenda aimed at revitalizing the mining sector, Mr. Dele Alake stressed the imperative of fostering harmonious relationships with host communities. In this regard, SROL was lauded for surpassing its community development targets, setting a benchmark for others to follow.

During the visit, Segun Lawson, the Managing Director and CEO of Segilola Resources, appealed for increased support to facilitate the company’s expansion and its contribution to the nation’s economy. In response, Mr. Dele Alake pledged government backing, citing the company’s commitment to promoting local content and its positive socio-economic impact on the host community.

As the Nigerian government intensifies efforts to revitalize the mining sector, partnerships with exemplary entities like SROL, under the guidance of Minister Dele Alake, are poised to play a pivotal role in achieving sustainable growth and development across the nation.
