June 28, 2025 | Lagos / Port Harcourt — Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd), has congratulated Rivers Angels Football Club for their historic victory at the 2025 President Federation Cup, announcing a ₦50 million reward for the team.
The Rivers Angels secured their 10th Federation Cup title on Saturday after a dramatic 4-2 penalty shootout win over Nasarawa Amazons at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
Ibas, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika, described the achievement as “absolutely unprecedented,” applauding the team’s resilience and excellence on the national stage.
“This is a proud moment for Rivers people,” Worika told journalists after the final. “We are immensely proud of our girls. Their achievement today is not just a win for Rivers Angels, but a win for the entire state. There’s nothing quite like it.”
A statement issued later by Juliana Masi, Head of Press in the SSG’s office, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting sports development and women’s football in particular.
“The Sole Administrator has graciously pledged ₦50 million to the team as a token of appreciation for their victory and as encouragement to continue striving for greatness,” the statement read.
The Rivers Angels’ win marks a significant milestone, further solidifying their status as one of the most successful women’s football clubs in Nigeria.
