Nigerian striker Victor Boniface is on the verge of joining Bundesliga side Werder Bremen after successfully completing his medical tests at the club on Monday, just hours before the summer transfer window closes.
The 24-year-old forward had been close to sealing a move to AC Milan last week, but the deal collapsed after the Italian giants reportedly withdrew due to concerns over his history of knee injuries.
“Victor Boniface has just completed his medical tests at Werder Bremen,” football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed in a post on X.
Boniface, who missed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with a muscle injury, returned to training with Bayer Leverkusen last week but was left out of the squad for their 3-3 draw against Bremen, sparking speculation about his future.
His potential switch to Bremen would give him a fresh start in the Bundesliga, as the striker looks to put his injury setbacks behind him and revive his career.
