Professor Pius Adesanmi, a renowned Nigerian-born Canadian professor, writer and literary critic, satirist, and columnist based in Canada was on the Ethiopian Airlines plane that crashed in the early hours of Sunday.

We reported earlier that an Ethiopian Airlines flight between Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and Nairobi, the Kenyan capital, crashed, killing 157 passengers and eight crew members aboard.

It has now emerged that Professor Adesanmi, a Professor of English at Carleton University, was among the passengers.

Family members and a close friend of Adesanmi’s and a Canadian official confirmed the sad development. His Wikipedia page has also been updated to include his passing.
