When Kimberly Blocks, a resident of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, USA recently placed an order for a GrubHub pizza, little did she know that she was in for the shock of her life. When the delivery man eventually showed up, however, Mrs Blocks would discover to her chagrin that not only was the delivery man an impostor, he was also a brazen dog thief.

According to reports, 23-year-old Arlinson Chilito who disguised as delivery personnel with GrubHub pizza, had called at the Blocks’ apartment. No sooner had Kimberly Block taken the pizza from Chilito than he made away with her 10-month-old puppy, Lexi. Fortunately for the Blocks the central security camera caught Chilito sneaking through the exit with Lexi, the pilfered dog in his bag.

The Jacksonville Police Department was instantly informed and the cops in turn contacted GrubHub, the pizza outfit in order to ascertain the identity of the dispatcher sent to the residence of the Blocks.

Reports indicate that management of GrubHub were not forthcoming as regards getting to the root of the matter. Rather, they insisted on a subpoena from the court before taking any further actions.

As investigation into the robbery incidence progressed, it was discovered that the culprit’s girlfriend was actually the authentic GrubHub employee and not Chilito. She had connived with Chilito to work as her proxy while she took on other jobs. It was established that Chilito who is currently imprisoned for his criminal act, was never on GrubHub’s stafflist.

In his statement, Kimberly’s husband Rick Block, who is a trial attorney with the globally recognised law firm of Morgan and Morgan noted:

“To me, thank God we got Lexi back OK due to the incredible efforts of the law enforcement at the Jacksonville Beach Police Department despite the obstruction of GrubHub, but those seven hours were terribly gut-wrenching. My wife has no children, no siblings, and that puppy has become her ever-present loving sidekick.

“They are inseparable. Kimberly had to be medicated just to be able to get to sleep. The fact that GrubHub couldn’t care less only pours salt in the wound. We just don’t want this to happen to anyone else, and to be aware that the person coming to your house may very well not be who you think it is, or for that matter, who GrubHub thinks it is. The difference is, apparently they don’t care.”
