The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has intensified regulatory oversight of the gas distribution sector following an operational visit to Central Horizon Gas Company Limited (CHGC) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The visit was led by the Authority’s Chief Executive, Engr. Saidu Mohammed, as part of efforts to assess critical gas infrastructure and deepen regulatory engagement with key operators in Nigeria’s midstream and downstream petroleum industry.
CHGC, a subsidiary of Axxela Limited, is a major player in natural gas distribution, operating an extensive pipeline network that supplies industrial and commercial consumers across the Greater Port Harcourt area. The company is considered strategic to expanding access to piped natural gas, supporting industrial clusters and advancing Nigeria’s transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions.
According to the NMDPRA, the visit reflects its commitment to ensuring safety, regulatory compliance and operational efficiency within the gas distribution segment, while strengthening oversight and promoting sustainable growth across the country’s energy landscape.
The Authority reaffirmed its resolve to sustain engagement with industry operators in order to enhance infrastructure integrity, improve service delivery and support national energy objectives.
