The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully intercepted and confiscated over 14 tons of Ghanaian Loud, a psychoactive substance, smuggled into Lagos. The operation, carried out by NDLEA operatives, targeted two trucks and a J5 bus, collectively carrying a staggering weight of 14,524.8 kilograms.

The Director of Media and Advocacy for NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, unveiled this major seizure in a statement released on Sunday, providing details of the successful interception at the Ojuelegba area of Lagos in the early hours of the same day.

According to the statement, the three vehicles were meticulously trailed and apprehended as they transported large consignments of the illicit substance. In a daring maneuver to evade capture, two of the drivers leaped off their vehicles in motion. However, the third driver, identified as 66-year-old Nasiru Ojomu, was apprehended on the spot.

Ojomu, employed by the wanted Akala of Mushin-based drug baron, Suleiman Jimoh, alias Olowo Idi Ogede, also known as Temo, now faces legal consequences for his involvement in the smuggling operation.

The NDLEA continues to intensify efforts in combating drug-related activities, with this recent success underscoring their commitment to curbing the illegal trade of substances that pose a threat to public health and safety. Further investigations are expected to unravel the network behind this significant smuggling attempt.
