The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) is navigating a dual strategy to enhance its energy landscape by engaging South Korean investors for gas projects while simultaneously fortifying the domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) market.
Korean Consortium Explores Nigeria’s Gas Potential
In Seoul, NNPC initiated discussions with a South Korean consortium led by Daewoo E & C, targeting Nigeria’s extensive gas reserves for a global shift towards clean energy. The talks centered on potential investments in greenfield projects and various gas development opportunities, hinting at the possibility of a forthcoming Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a surge in strategic foreign direct investments.
LPG Carrier Commissioned to Elevate Domestic Market
NNPC acknowledged the commendable efforts of Temile Development Company, a local player, for commissioning the 23,000-cubic-meter LPG carrier, Alfred Temile 10. This significant development is poised to escalate domestic LPG consumption, fostering a cleaner energy landscape nationwide. In tandem with this, NNPC, in collaboration with West Africa Gas Limited, is progressing with the construction of its LPG vessels to further saturate the market and ensure broader access to clean energy.
