The Lagos Chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has called out their strike after the state government finally approved the association’s demand for the payment of uniform allowance for all members of the professional association by the leadership of the state.

This was revealed in a statement by the State’s Chairman, Olurotimi Awojide:

“You would recall that the association issued a 21-day ultimatum over the payment of a statutory uniform allowance to the government which elapsed today. It is for us a litmus test to draw our final conclusions on the readiness and responsiveness of the Lagos State Government to the issues of nurses and the healthcare system”.

He further stated that: “But the government has promised to pay the allowance with the September 2021 salary which is due in a few days”.
