The Lagos State Government has honoured 750 public servants, including Permanent Secretaries, Directors, and other senior officials, with Long Service Awards in recognition of their dedication, professionalism, and meritorious service to the state.
The award ceremony, which took place at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa Secretariat, was organised by the Office of Establishments and Training under the Ministry of Establishments and Training. The event brought together government officials, family members of the awardees, and well-wishers to celebrate the enduring commitment of staff who have served Lagos State faithfully for periods ranging from 10 to 35 years.
In his keynote address, the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, praised the recipients for their exemplary conduct and invaluable contributions to the growth of the public sector. He described the awardees as “the silent engines driving the success of governance in Lagos State,” noting that their steadfastness has ensured continuity and excellence in service delivery across ministries, departments, and agencies.
“Your long years of service represent not just loyalty, but a strong commitment to the vision of a greater Lagos. The government deeply appreciates your sacrifice and the value you have added to public administration,” Agoro said.
Representing Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Mrs. Ajibola Ponnle, reiterated the administration’s resolve to prioritise workers’ welfare, enhance workplace conditions, and promote a culture of recognition within the civil service. She added that the Long Service Awards were part of broader reforms aimed at motivating the workforce and ensuring efficient public service delivery.
“Our workforce remains the heartbeat of government operations. These awards reflect our appreciation for diligence, integrity, and professionalism, which have remained the hallmark of Lagos public servants,” she stated.
Some of the awardees, who spoke at the event, expressed gratitude to the state government for the recognition, describing it as a morale booster. They pledged to continue serving with dedication and to mentor younger officers in upholding the state’s legacy of excellence.
The Long Service Awards, now an annual tradition, form part of the state’s Public Service Week celebrations and underscore the government’s commitment to rewarding hard work, promoting institutional loyalty, and strengthening capacity development across its workforce.
The ceremony ended with the presentation of plaques and certificates to deserving officers, amid cheers, music, and applause from colleagues and family members who gathered to celebrate their achievements.
