Renowned Afrobeats sensation, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, recently opened up about the secret behind his remarkable success in the entertainment industry. Contrary to popular belief, Davido asserts that his achievements are not merely a result of his affluent background but are rooted in his personal values and talent.
During an insightful discussion on the American podcast ‘Business Untitled,’ Davido shared candid reflections on his journey to stardom, debunking misconceptions about the influence of his family’s wealth on his career trajectory. He emphasized that while Nigeria boasts numerous billionaires, including individuals wealthier than his father, success in the entertainment realm hinges on more than financial backing.
Davido remarked, “There are many billionaires in Nigeria, even richer than my father… And there are people [billionaire’s children] who have tried to do what I have tried to do: music, entertainment, business. But mine has been successful because of my values.”
The Grammy-winning artist attributed his accomplishments to his unwavering commitment to excellence and authenticity. Despite facing initial skepticism due to his privileged upbringing, Davido’s talent and dedication ultimately earned him recognition and acceptance within the music industry.

“The biggest challenge I had when I started music was that my father is wealthy. But I got accepted for one reason and that reason is that I am good, talented. I don’t think I would have ever been accepted if I wasn’t good at what I do,” Davido remarked.
