Thursday September 25, 2025 was a day of “thanksgiving” at Agboyi Ketu. Not the regular thanksgiving to the Divine One in a place of worship, but this time to men and women who gave their support, prayers, substance and votes in a political scenario.
The elegant and hardworking Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA; Hon. Adetola Adunni Abubakar was having her final day of appreciation tour to show her gratitude to the market women and men for their support during the campaigns and elections. She came all out with her team of Council Administrators such as the Vice Chairman, Council Manager and Council Treasurer. Others on her train were the complete house of Council Legislators (Councilors), Chairman of APC Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Chapter, the Woman Leader and of course the Adunni Babes were radiant and bright adding colour to every visit with their delectable political songs and accolades both to the benefactors and beneficiary.

The markets visited on this final day of markets appreciation tour include:
Tipper Garage Market, Ketu (Ward A)
Ifelodun Golden Garage Market, Ketu (Ward A)
Oja Oba Market, Ketu Bus Stop (Ward A)
Erunkan Market, (Ward D)
Owoseni Market, (Ward D)
Hon. Tunde Braimoh Modern Market, (Ward D)
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Market, Ajelogo (Ward D)

At each of these markets, the Chairman and her entourage were received in warmth and joy with songs and prayers… Who could ever guess that the pretty and gorgeous Chairman was such a grassroots personality! Her bonding and connection with the market women was vivacious and she was totally in sync with their terms and mannerisms… Thrilling moments! At each market, she would sing songs to the utter delight of the market traders that identify her with the local markets such as “omo oloja ni mi…”. To this, they would cheer and reciprocate in other songs! The visit to each market was electrifying, reminiscent of the campaign frenzy and it was all merry everywhere the appreciation train went!

The crux of her visit to the markets was simply to thank these women and men for their support. Hon. Abubakar recalled every campaign promise she made when she came calling pre-election and now, she reiterates her determination to bring each one to fruition in the course of her administration! Her manifesto was well documented and her administration has started work in earnest in fulfillment of those promises in campaign. Already executed within these 7 weeks into her administration include:
Back-to-School-Boost; a cash empowerment project to parents of the LCDA to prepare their children for school resumption
Assessment of all infrastructure and facilities within the LCDA to identify needs for repairs and replacements
Environmental inspections and sanitation
300 free GCE forms for students in the LCDA
Various stakeholders meetings
Erosion Control and Roadworks already in progress at Ward D
Spelling Bee Competition
And the list goes on…

“We mean all that we said in campaign and we are up to the task! We will not disappoint you” she said… At each of her address to the traders, she reminded all her listeners to take advantage of the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) process to ensure that they get their PVCs ready. Hon. Abubakar repeated loud and clear that the citizen’s vote is their power to demand from the Government and the PVC is the key to that power! Everyone must get their PVCs and use their voting power judiciously! Revalidations, replacements, relocation and new registrations of the PVC must be taken seriously and to make this process easier, the Chairman has graciously provided a stand-by bus to convey residents of Agboyi-Ketu to the INEC capturing centre at Ogudu and back. The party Chairman for the LCDA Hon. Odekomaiya is ever on ground and working to help the general citizenry with this.

At each of the market visited, representatives of other Nigerian tribes doing businesses in those markets were eager and proud to pledge their support for the Government of Hon. Adetola Abubakar! She is reaching out to them in a way no other in her position had done and they are very much at home in Agboyi-Ketu! It was an open-air and standing meeting everywhere the train went. At Owoseni market, it began to rain and this sophisticated lady declined to be covered with an umbrella in the rain! The market crowd responded with cheers of appreciation at her toughness and all enjoyed the drench of the rain in love and unity…
At each of the seven markets, the message was clear… The Chairman solicited their support during the campaigns. They gave their support and voted massively; the highest number of LGA votes that Agboyi-Ketu had ever witnessed at that! And now, she has come back to say THANK YOU!!
