Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) is steadily emerging as a new force in grassroots boxing, thanks to the vision and commitment of its chairman, Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo (TAT), whose passion for youth development has sparked a sporting revolution within the community.
Speaking during a boxing development programme in Ejigbo, Aare TAT reaffirmed his commitment to discovering and nurturing young talents through structured sporting initiatives aimed at creating opportunities for the next generation.
Under his leadership, Ejigbo has witnessed increased investment in youth-focused programmes, with boxing becoming one of the fastest-growing sports in the council area. The initiative, popularly known as “Gloves Up Ejigbo,” is designed to identify promising athletes, instill discipline, and provide a pathway for talented youths to excel at state, national, and international levels.
A major part of the success story is the emergence of MAJA Boxing Club and TFC (TAT Fight Club), two boxing platforms established to groom young fighters and provide professional training opportunities.
MAJA Boxing Club has become a breeding ground for aspiring boxers, focusing on discipline, fitness, and technical development. The club continues to attract talented youths eager to pursue careers in the sport.
Similarly, TFC Club has strengthened Ejigbo’s boxing movement by creating a competitive environment where young athletes can train, develop confidence, and prepare for tournaments. The club’s mission is not only to produce champions but also responsible young leaders who can positively impact society.
Community leaders and sports enthusiasts have praised Aare TAT’s efforts, describing the boxing initiative as a game-changer capable of reducing youth unemployment, discouraging social vices, and promoting healthy lifestyles among residents.
Observers believe that with continued support from stakeholders, coaches, and sports administrators, Ejigbo could soon become one of Lagos State’s leading centres for boxing excellence.
Addressing participants at the event, Aare TAT emphasized that sports remain a powerful tool for empowerment and community development.
“Our goal is to discover talents, build champions, and create opportunities for young people. Through boxing, we are shaping the future of Ejigbo and giving our youths a platform to achieve greatness,” he said.
As more young athletes join MAJA Boxing Club and TFC Club, hopes remain high that Ejigbo’s boxing dream will translate into medals, championships, and national recognition in the years ahead.
The growing success of the initiative has already positioned Ejigbo LCDA as a rising hub for grassroots boxing development, with many believing that the community’s next boxing champion is already being trained within its ranks.
