The Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo, in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, has announced the official commencement of the Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise within the LCDA.
This initiative follows a strategic meeting involving key environmental officers, Mrs. Onasanya Adeyosola, Director from the Ministry of Environment; Mr. Alade Akorese, Special Adviser on Environment to the Executive Chairman; and Sanitarian Afolashade Oluyemisi Banjo, Head of Department of Environment. The meeting culminated in a unified mandate to restore, uphold and sustain the aesthetic and hygienic standards of communities across Onigbongbo LCDA.
The Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise is designed as a proactive and continuous effort to promote public health, environmental cleanliness, and community responsibility.
The exercise will commence on Saturday, April 25th, and subsequently every last Saturday of the month between the hours of 7: 00am and 9: 00am.
Coverage Areas include Oregun & Olusosun, Adekunle Fajuyi & Oladele Benson, Onigbongbo Central, Ilupeju HOMS & Aina Eleko, Maryland and surrounding areas
The Chairman urged all residents, traders, artisans, and business owners to actively participate in this exercise. He emphasised that this is not a one-time activity but a sustained monthly commitment toward safeguarding public health and preserving the environment.
Residents were encouraged to clean their surroundings, clear drainage channels, properly dispose of waste, and comply with all sanitation guidelines as directed by environmental officers.
