The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Salihu Avidime, has expressed grief over the death of a lecturer in the institution’s Department of Public Administration, Anslem Ojodomo, describing the loss as sudden and deeply personal.
The lecturer’s death was confirmed in a statement issued by the Acting Coordinator of the Directorate of Public Relations, John Onimisi.
Avidime revealed that he had met Ojodomo just hours before his passing, noting that they exchanged greetings in what would become their final interaction. He described the development as a deep personal shock.
The rector, on behalf of the institution’s governing council, management, staff and students, extended condolences to the School of Management Studies, the Department of Public Administration, the people of Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area, and the deceased’s family.
He described Ojodomo as a dedicated academic who distinguished himself through discipline, humility and commitment to excellence, both as a student and later as a lecturer.
Avidime noted that the late lecturer studied at Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, where he earned his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and recently defended his PhD proposal before joining Kogi State Polytechnic as an Assistant Lecturer in 2021.
He added that Ojodomo also served as Deputy Dean in the Directorate of Student Services, where he was known for his dedication to student welfare.
The rector said the institution has lost a promising scholar and dependable colleague whose life, though brief, was impactful and inspiring.
He stated that Ojodomo’s passing represents not only a loss to the polytechnic community but also to the future he embodied, marked by promise, leadership and meaningful contributions to society.
The institution prayed for the repose of his soul and comfort for his family and all those affected by the loss.
