The Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo, received a delegation from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), led by its Director General, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, at the Council Secretariat.
The visit was aimed at fostering a strategic partnership between LASEMA and Onigbongbo LCDA to strengthen emergency preparedness and response at the grassroots level. Key discussions during the meeting centered on the establishment of a Quick Emergency Response Unit within the council and the training of council personnel on effective emergency response and management.
The LASEMA delegation highlighted the importance of collaboration with local councils to ensure swift response to emergencies and disasters, noting that equipping community-based responders with the right knowledge and tools is crucial in mitigating risks and saving lives.
In his response, Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo expressed his appreciation to the delegation for the timely and proactive visit. He noted that the council recognizes the growing need to strengthen emergency response mechanisms within the community.
The Chairman further assured the delegation that the council is committed to enhancing its emergency preparedness. He announced plans to immediately set up an Emergency Response Unit Committee that will work closely with LASEMA to facilitate the establishment of a Local Emergency Response Unit within Onigbongbo LCDA.
Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo reiterated the council’s readiness to collaborate with LASEMA, emphasizing that building a responsive and resilient community remains a top priority for his administration.
