Multipro Enterprise Limited, manufacturer of Hypo Bleach, has cautioned Nigerians against consuming the product following a viral social media trend linked to a feud involving content creator King Mitchy and influencer VeryDarkMan.
In a statement signed by its Marketing Manager, Adebayo Adeyemo, the company stressed that Hypo Bleach is strictly formulated for cleaning purposes and should not be consumed under any circumstances.
The manufacturer explained that the product is designed to remove stains, whiten fabrics, deodorise and eliminate 99.9 per cent of germs, warning that it is unsafe for drinking.
Multipro also condemned the circulation of AI-generated images portraying Hypo as a consumable beverage, describing such representations as false and potentially dangerous.
“We have observed people creating and sharing videos and AI-generated images designed to make Hypo look like a beverage. Your health and safety is serious business,” the statement read.
The company clarified that the images are fabricated and warned that anyone encouraging others to ingest the product, even as a joke or for online engagement, is putting lives at risk.
It further urged influencers, bloggers and content creators to act responsibly, noting that their platforms carry significant influence. According to the company, trends that could result in harm or ill-health should not be promoted for views or entertainment.
Beyond the product warning, the statement also highlighted the importance of mental health, encouraging individuals experiencing emotional distress or pressure to seek help from trusted persons or professionals. It advised Nigerians to prioritise their mental well-being and promote safe and responsible use of social media.
The warning comes amid heightened online exchanges involving popular personalities, which have sparked dangerous stunts and imitative behaviour on social platforms.
