President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday evening hosted state governors to a Ramadan Iftar dinner at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, continuing his annual engagement with political leaders during the holy month.
The fast-breaking commenced shortly after 6:30 p.m. at the State House and marks the third consecutive year the President has convened governors for the symbolic gathering at Aso Rock.
Governors who arrived at the Villa from about 6:15 p.m. included Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, Usman Ododo of Kogi State, Babagana Zulum of Borno State, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Mohammed Bago of Niger State, Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State and Agbu Kefas of Taraba State. The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State was also in attendance.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila and several cabinet members joined the gathering.
The Iftar forms part of President Tinubu’s annual Ramadan activities, during which he hosts political office holders, senior government officials, traditional rulers and members of the diplomatic community.
In previous engagements, the President has used the occasion to emphasise national unity and bipartisan cooperation, urging leaders to prioritise the country’s collective interest above political differences.
