The Chief Executive Officer of Mercy Speaks Initiative, Mercy Roland, has praised the Ondo State Government for organising an Investment Summit, describing the initiative as a step in the right direction toward economic transformation.
Roland made the remarks while speaking with journalists at the summit held at the International Culture and Events Centre, popularly known as The Dome, in Akure.
She stressed that the deliberations and investment opportunities highlighted at the event must receive serious follow-up attention, urging stakeholders not to allow the summit to become a ceremonial gathering without tangible outcomes.
According to her, the summit should serve as a platform for actionable decisions backed by sound business strategies capable of driving sustainable growth in the state.
Roland described the event as innovative, noting that the calibre of participants in attendance reflected the state government’s commitment to attracting credible investors to Ondo State.
“The Investment Summit is a commendable initiative that must be pursued to its logical conclusion. It is a strategic move by the state government that has the potential to significantly boost investment in the state,” she said.
She added that the government appears committed to repositioning Ondo from a civil service-driven economy to an industrial hub.
Roland also highlighted the proposed seaport project, urging authorities to ensure that it progresses beyond the signing of memoranda of understanding to full implementation.
She further called on the state government to create and sustain an enabling environment that would attract and retain investors, noting that consistent policy direction and infrastructure development are key to long-term economic success.
