The Ogun State Government has pledged to ensure justice in the case of an alleged rape involving a TikTok content creator identified as Mirabel, confirming that she has been admitted to a state-owned health facility for treatment and support.
The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, , disclosed this on Friday after visiting the survivor at the facility alongside the ministry’s Permanent Secretary and the Medical Director.
According to Adeleye, the visit was aimed at assessing the survivor’s condition and ensuring that appropriate medical and welfare interventions were being administered.
In a statement made available to journalists, the commissioner said the government had initiated a coordinated, multi-sectoral response to the allegation. She confirmed that the survivor is receiving comprehensive medical care, psychosocial support and necessary clinical examinations, and is responding positively to treatment.
She commended the , Ogun State Command, for its swift action after the case was transferred to the state. She also praised the response of the state-owned medical facility and the State Ministry of Justice.
Adeleye noted that the structured approach was designed to protect the survivor’s welfare while ensuring that investigations are conducted professionally, thoroughly and based strictly on verifiable evidence.
“The welfare, dignity and safety of every survivor remains our utmost priority,” she said, adding that the administration of Governor maintains a zero-tolerance stance on sexual and gender-based violence.
She, however, stressed that due process would be followed, noting that investigations must be evidence-based, transparent and fair to all parties involved. Anyone found culpable, she said, would face the full weight of the law.
The commissioner assured the public that updates would be provided as credible findings emerge and urged residents to avoid speculative narratives or sensational commentary that could undermine the investigative process.
The state government reaffirmed its commitment to getting to the root of the matter and ensuring that justice is served.
