The motion to halt the process was adopted during the House’s resumed plenary in Port Harcourt.
Speaker said the decision followed the latest intervention by President in the state’s lingering political crisis.
According to the Speaker, the move formed part of resolutions reached at a meeting earlier this month involving the President, principal officers of the Assembly, parties to the dispute, as well as elders and political leaders from the state.
Amaewhule further disclosed that Governor Fubara, his deputy and the legislature had agreed to withdraw their respective impeachment-related cases from the courts as part of efforts to de-escalate tensions and restore stability.
The development marks a significant step toward resolving the protracted political standoff in the oil-rich state.
