The (NITDA) has partnered with the Government for the launch of the Civil Society Technology Empowerment for Capacity and High Performance (CIVTECH) Programme aimed at strengthening digital capacity in the public service.
The Director-General of NITDA, , participated in the official unveiling of the initiative, which is being implemented by the Cross River State Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency.
The programme is designed to equip 2,000 civil servants in the state with digital skills, positioning Cross River as a hub for digital governance and public-sector innovation.
Declaring the programme open, the State Head of Service, Orok Okon, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a technology-driven workforce capable of delivering efficient and modern public services.
Representing the NITDA Director-General at the ceremony, the agency’s Director of Stakeholder Management and Partnership, Aristotle Onumo, delivered a keynote address highlighting the need for Nigeria’s public service to transition from traditional bureaucratic processes to digital excellence.
He noted that citizens increasingly expect government services to match the speed, transparency and convenience associated with digital banking and e-commerce platforms.
Onumo commended Cross River State for embracing digital reform and encouraged the adoption of modern tools, automated systems and technology-driven competencies to ensure faster, smarter and more reliable service delivery.
He emphasized that a high-performance public service must leverage technology effectively to provide efficient and accessible services to all citizens at all times.
