Governor has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to place Zamfara State on the path of sustainable development with the commissioning and flag-off of major projects in Anka Local Government Area.
The governor inaugurated four significant development initiatives in the area, underscoring his government’s commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and improving infrastructure across the state.
According to a statement by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the projects include the reconstruction and equipping of the Emir’s Palace in Anka, the flag-off of the Anka–Abbare Road project, and the commencement of construction of a new Anka Local Government Secretariat.
Other projects launched during the visit include the construction of office buildings for the Hisbah Commission and Community Protection Guards, as well as the reconstruction of the Safe School in Anka.
Speaking at the event, Governor Lawal said the projects were part of broader efforts to strengthen governance, restore dignity to public institutions, and enhance socio-economic development in the state.
He described the Anka–Abbare Road as a critical route that would improve access to hinterland communities and stimulate economic activities. He also emphasised the importance of providing a conducive working environment for civil servants, noting that the new local government secretariat would help improve service delivery.
On security and social order, the governor said the provision of office accommodation for the Hisbah Commission and Community Protection Guards would enable them to effectively discharge their responsibilities.
Highlighting the importance of education, Lawal said the reconstruction of the Safe School was part of the state’s emergency response to ensure a secure and supportive learning environment for students.
The governor also noted that commissioning the new Emir’s Palace would help strengthen traditional institutions, which he described as custodians of culture and heritage, and vital partners in the state’s development.
He urged residents and traditional leaders in Anka to support his administration’s development agenda and ensure the proper maintenance of the newly completed projects.
Governor Lawal further disclosed that similar projects in Kaura Namoda and Moriki would soon be commissioned, while those in Bungudu, Bukkuyum, and Zurmi are expected to be completed and inaugurated before the end of the year.
