Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has arrived at the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna), to deliver the institution’s 34th convocation lecture.
The lecture, titled “Youth and Nation Building: Navigating Opportunities in an Era of National Reforms,” is part of activities marking the university’s 34th Convocation Ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session.
Ahead of the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor of FUT Minna, Professor Farouk Kuta, briefed journalists on the programme of events, which also includes the university’s 43rd Founders’ Day celebration scheduled for February 1, 2026.
Professor Kuta disclosed that a total of 5,297 students will graduate during the convocation. This figure includes 111 students who earned First Class honours.
According to the breakdown provided, 1,525 graduates obtained Second Class Upper degrees, 2,134 earned Second Class Lower, 631 graduated with Third Class degrees, while 37 candidates received Pass degrees.
Further details showed that 4,438 students will be awarded First Degrees, 73 will receive Postgraduate Diplomas, 633 candidates will be conferred with Master’s degrees, and 153 scholars will earn Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees.
The convocation lecture by the Information Minister is expected to highlight the role of young people in national development, particularly within the context of ongoing reforms across the country.
