The Jigawa State Government has signed a five-million-dollar agreement with Tesni Green Power Energy Limited for the establishment of a solar panel assembling plant aimed at generating up to 100 megawatts of solar energy in the state.
Governor Umar Namadi presided over the signing ceremony, which formalised the partnership between the state government and the renewable energy firm. The project is part of Jigawa’s strategy to expand access to clean, affordable and sustainable power while reducing dependence on imported solar products.
Under the agreement, the facility will assemble solar panels, solar-powered pumps and other related equipment. When completed, the plant is expected to serve Jigawa State and neighbouring states, strengthening the regional renewable energy supply chain.
Leading the Tesni Green Power delegation, Engineer Bashir Ishaq said the project was designed to boost renewable energy access and support Nigeria’s transition to cleaner energy sources. He added that local assembly would help cut costs and improve availability of solar products.
State officials noted that the investment is also expected to generate employment opportunities and stimulate local economic activity. They described the project as a key component of Jigawa’s broader plan to diversify its economy and promote sustainable development through renewable energy initiatives.
