Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has received another chieftaincy title in Lagos State, barely a week after his installation as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade.
Tinubu was installed on Friday as the Okanlòmo of Eyọ, Ọba Alakẹtẹ Pupa, Laba Ẹkun, during a traditional ceremony held in Lagos, a day after the Christmas celebrations. His wife, Layal Tinubu, was also honoured with a complementary chieftaincy title at the event.
Reacting to the development, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, congratulated the couple, describing the honour as a recognition of service, character, and commitment to culture and the people of Lagos.
“I warmly congratulate Barrister Oluwaseyi Tinubu on his installation as the Okanlòmo of Eyọ, Ọba Alakẹtẹ Pupa, Laba Ẹkun,” the governor said in a statement on Friday.
Governor Sanwo-Olu added that the title reflects Tinubu’s dedication to cultural values and public service, and wished him strength and wisdom as he assumes the responsibilities associated with the new traditional role.
