The Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC) has expressed condolences to its Third Vice President, Olumide Oyedeji, following the death of his mother, Madam Felicia Oyedeji.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by the Committee’s spokesperson, Tony Nezianya, the President of the NOC, Habu Ahmed Gumel, conveyed the sympathies of the entire Olympic family to Oyedeji and his family over the loss.
According to the statement, Madam Oyedeji passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2025, after attending a Sunday school service. She was 81 years old.
The NOC described the late Madam Oyedeji as a devout Christian and a Deaconess at the Christ Apostolic Church in Ibadan. She was born in Igbajo, Osun State, and was noted for her strong faith, dedication to service, and commitment to family values.
The statement further noted that she was a respected businesswoman and a loving matriarch of the Oyedeji family. She and her late husband, Prince Oladejo Oyedeji, spent their early years together in Ibadan.
Madam Oyedeji is survived by six children, including former NBA star and Olympian, Olumide Oyedeji, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Olumide Oyedeji currently serves as President of the Nigerian Olympians Association.
The NOC said funeral arrangements would be announced by the family at a later date, while praying for the repose of the soul of the deceased and strength for the family to bear the loss.
