As part of the line-up events to commemorate the 2025 International Youth Day in Onigbongbo LCDA, Nigerian Drug and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in collaboration with the Executive Chairman of the LCDA, Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo, has organized a One-Day Drug Abuse Prevention Training for youth leaders in Onigbongbo.
This training was organised to sensitize the youth and curb drug abuse, which has become an alarming trend among the youth.
While peer pressure is one of the reasons many indulge in it, others claim that it makes them feel calm. Either ways, they often slip into addiction, which poses significant threats to the health, potential, and future of our younger generation.
The training focused on equipping participants with the knowledge and tools to combat the menace of drug abuse in their communities.
The session covered critical areas such as the dangers of substance abuse, early warning signs, counseling approaches, and strategies for community sensitization. Participants were urged to take the knowledge gained back to their various groups and become ambassadors of a drug-free society.
The initiative reflects a proactive commitment to protecting and empowering the youth of Onigbongbo and ensuring they are well-informed, resilient, and capable of making positive choices for their future
