In what promises to reshape the political landscape of Kano State, former Young Progressives Party (YPP) Governorship candidate and one of Nigeria’s most promising youth political leaders, Alhaji Ahmad Isa, is set to formally decamp to the newly revitalized African Democratic Congress (ADC). The move, according to close associates, is part of his ongoing mission to find the best platform to fulfill his burning desire to serve the good people of Kano State.
Alhaji Isa, widely celebrated as a shining example of youth participation in Nigerian politics, first captured national attention in 2019 when he boldly declared his interest in contesting for the Kano State Governorship on the YPP platform. Many dismissed his ambition at the time, given his youthful age and the relatively new party he represented. Critics questioned his ability to compete against the established political heavyweights and financial juggernauts of the state. But Isa defied expectations, running an issue-based, courageous campaign that earned him respect across political divides.
Born on June 6, 1986, in Munjibir Town, Munjibir Local Government Area of Kano State, Ahmad Isa has built a solid reputation as a man of ideas, vision, and deep commitment to the principles of good governance. His educational journey, spanning institutions such as IUSEBA University of Science, Benin Republic; Plateau State Polytechnic; and Sokoto State Polytechnic, reflects his dedication to self-development and capacity building — qualities he believes are essential for leading Kano into a new era of progress.
A renowned expert in the solid minerals sector, Isa has previously served meritoriously at the Kano State Bureau of Statistics and as a top officer at Tropic Mining Nigeria Ltd. His wealth of experience in both public administration and private enterprise is seen as an asset that will greatly benefit Kano State if given the opportunity to serve in executive office.
Speaking on the planned switch to ADC, Isa reiterated his unwavering belief in politics without bitterness, stressing that politics should be about service to the people, not personal gain or rancour. He praised ADC’s renewed commitment to inclusivity, internal democracy, and progressive governance — values that align perfectly with his own political philosophy.
“I believe in robust debates about how to make Kano and Nigeria better for all, how to lift the poor and less privileged, and how to use our diversity for collective greatness,” Isa said. “The ADC, in its new form, offers a platform where fresh ideas, especially those from young people, will not only be welcomed but actively championed.”
