The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has relieved the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), Michael Ango, of his duties.
The decision was announced on Friday in a statement issued by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
According to the statement, the most senior official within the FCT-IRS has been directed to immediately assume leadership of the agency and ensure uninterrupted operations pending further directives.
The development comes amid renewed enforcement actions by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) targeting 1,095 property titles across Abuja. The affected titles were recently revoked for non-payment of statutory charges, including Ground Rent, Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) fees, Penalty/Violation charges and Land Use Conversion fees.
The FCTA disclosed that the property owners had repeatedly failed to settle their outstanding liabilities despite multiple public notices issued between May and November 2025 through national newspapers, online platforms and television announcements. The administration warned that persistent defaulters risked forfeiture of their property titles.
Further updates on the restructuring of the FCT-IRS and continued enforcement actions are expected in the coming days.
