Voting has commenced in parts of Rivers State as residents head to the polls to elect representatives for Khana Constituency 2 and Ahoada East Constituency 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The bye-elections are being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fill vacancies in the two constituencies.
In Khana Local Government Area, electoral officials and sensitive materials arrived early at Opuoko Community ahead of accreditation and voting. Similarly, in Ahoada East LGA, INEC personnel were seen at the Ogbele Community Town Hall preparing polling units for the exercise in Ahoada East Constituency 2.
At Ward 16, Unit 9 in Khana, the All Progressives Congress candidate for Khana Constituency 2, Bulabari Loolo, cast her vote shortly after polls opened.
Across affected communities, electoral officials were observed setting up polling stations and arranging materials, while voters queued to participate in the process.
Party agents, election observers and security personnel are monitoring the exercise to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the polls.
