On May 31, 2021, the Governing Council of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) sacked two of its lecturers, Dr. Boniface Igbenegbu and Dr. Samuel Omoniyi Oladipo for sexual harrassment of female students of the higher citadel of learning.

Recall that the randy scholars were exposed in a 2019 BBC documentary where undercover investigative journalist discreetly unrivaled the unsettling sexual scheming behind the close door of the “cold room”.  The video was a clear evidence of the unethical behaviours of the senior lecturers.

The Senate Council meeting on the indiscreet act perpetuated by the lecturers was chaired by Mr. Lanre Tejuosho. The sitting came into effect based on recommendation by the Senate Committee that investigated and found the story to be true.

In a statement by the Public Affairs unit of the institution, it reads:
” The Governing Council of the University of Lagos, at its meeting on Monday, May 31, 2021 approved the immediate dismissal of Dr. Boniface Igbenegbu of the Department of European Languages and Integration Studies, Faculty of Arts and Dr. Samuel Omoniyi Oladipo of the Department of Economics,  Faculty of Social Sciences, from the services of the University.”
