Appointment Fills Vacancy Left by Uche Nnaji’s Resignation – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded a letter to the Senate seeking the screening and confirmation of Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Ude, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) from Enugu State, as a Minister of the Federal Republic.
The request was formally read during Tuesday’s plenary session by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, who announced that the nomination had been referred to the Committee of the Whole for consideration and screening.
President Tinubu’s nomination of Dr. Ude comes following the resignation of former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, who stepped down from his position last month.
Nnaji, who was Enugu State’s sole representative in the Federal Executive Council, resigned amid controversy surrounding his academic credentials and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate, reportedly obtained from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
His resignation created a ministerial vacuum for Enugu State, prompting President Tinubu to move swiftly to fill the position.
Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Ude, a respected legal practitioner and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, is expected to appear before the Senate in the coming days for screening and confirmation.
If confirmed, he will assume office as a member of President Tinubu’s cabinet and help advance the administration’s agenda in the technology and innovation sectors.
