President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), succeeding Professor Is-haq Oloyede whose two-term tenure is expected to end on July 31, 2026.
Professor Aina, who turns 40 in July, is an academic and systems expert with a background in national examination systems, digital infrastructure, and public-sector reform.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security, and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University, United Kingdom. He also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
A Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Aina previously began his career at JAMB during his National Youth Service, where he gained early experience in admissions processes and data-driven institutional systems.
With over 15 years of post-graduation experience, he has worked extensively at the intersection of technology, policy, and institutional reform, advising federal and state governments on digital transformation and systems optimisation.
He has also served as a consultant to examination bodies including NECO and NABTEB, as well as various state ministries of education, focusing on ICT systems, examination integrity, and digital process improvements.
Aina is a member of several professional organisations, including COREN, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the IEEE, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
President Tinubu expressed confidence that the new JAMB Registrar will leverage his experience and expertise to build on the achievements of his predecessor and further strengthen the examination body’s operations.
