The pigeon teaches a powerful lesson about relationships and loyalty. As the Yoruba proverb says, “Eyele kì í bá onílé jẹ, kì í bá onílé mu, kó wá dojú ikú kó yèrí,” meaning the pigeon that eats and drinks in the owner’s house should not turn against the owner. Just like many devoted wives and partners who nurture their homes with love, patience, and responsibility, their loyalty and care bring peace and stability to the family. The favour is the harmony and support they create, but the disadvantage is that such kindness is sometimes taken for granted. The message is simple: never repay love and support with betrayal value those who stand by you and keep the home together. 🕊️
