Super Eagles and Fulham Football Club forward, Samuel Chukwueze, has lost his mother, Mrs Sarah Chukwueze.
The development was confirmed on Thursday through emotional tributes shared on Instagram by his brother, David Chukwueze, who expressed the family’s grief and difficulty in coming to terms with the loss.
In one of the posts, David wrote, “Can’t even post your picture to say RIP mum. My forever love just left me without saying goodbye,” adding that their late mother did not live to see her grandchild.
As of the time of filing this report, Samuel Chukwueze had yet to issue an official statement on the passing of his mother.
Nigerian football journalist, Poojamedia, also confirmed the development in a post on X, noting that the footballer had remained mentally strong while playing for both the Super Eagles and Fulham during his mother’s illness. The journalist urged the public to be mindful of the personal struggles athletes may face, while offering condolences to the Chukwueze family.
Details surrounding the cause of death were not disclosed.
The loss comes just two days after Super Eagles captain, Wilfred Ndidi, also lost his father, Sunday Ndidi, in a road accident in Delta State, marking a period of mourning within the Nigerian football community.
