Vice President Kashim Shettima has briefed President Bola Tinubu on Nigeria’s participation at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, shortly before the President departed Abuja for a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye.
The briefing took place at the State House, Abuja, following Nigeria’s engagements at the global economic summit, where government officials held high-level discussions with international partners and investors.
During the meeting, Vice President Shettima highlighted key outcomes of the Davos meetings, including investor interest generated and opportunities to advance the Federal Government’s economic reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that Nigeria’s participation was aimed at strengthening economic partnerships, attracting foreign investment and aligning national policies with global best practices.
The engagement underscored the administration’s renewed drive to position Nigeria as an attractive investment destination and to deepen international economic cooperation.
Moments after the briefing, President Tinubu departed Abuja on Monday, January 26, 2026, for a state visit to Türkiye, as part of efforts to further strengthen bilateral relations between both countries.
According to a statement from the State House, the visit will focus on expanding cooperation in key sectors, including security, education, innovation, aviation, social development, trade and investment.
President Tinubu is also expected to hold strategic political and diplomatic talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, building on the long-standing cordial relationship between Nigeria and Türkiye.
The visit will feature engagements between senior officials of both nations and the signing of several memoranda of understanding covering areas such as energy, scientific research, technical cooperation, media and communications, military collaboration and protocol.
A Nigeria–Türkiye business forum is also scheduled during the visit to provide a platform for investors from both countries to explore new economic opportunities. President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the state visit.
