Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Ado-Ekiti to represent President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for a second consecutive term in office.
Shettima arrived at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, where he was received by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Governor Oyebanji and other senior government officials.
Also present were governors from Kwara, Imo, Sokoto, Kebbi, Ondo and Jigawa states, alongside All Progressives Congress National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council Abdulaziz Yari and former Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko.
The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, where Oyebanji and his deputy, Monisade Afuye, will begin another four year term.
Oyebanji’s re-election makes him the first governor in Ekiti State to secure a second consecutive term since the state was created in 1996.
His victory marks a milestone in the state’s political history, which has witnessed changes in governing parties and no previous governor securing consecutive terms.
The inauguration, themed “The Good Work Continues,” is expected to signal the continuation of Oyebanji’s administration and its development agenda for the state.
Shettima is accompanied by Kano State Deputy Governor Aminu Sule Garo, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President Ibrahim Hadejia, Senator Muntari Dandutse, Minister of Solid Minerals Development Dele Alake and the President’s Special Adviser on Special Duties in the Office of the Vice President, Aliyu Modibbo Umar, among other senior aides.
