The Senate has confirmed the appointment of three nominees as non-career ambassadors following their screening by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Those confirmed are Lateef Kayode Kolawole Are from Ogun State, Aminu Muhammad Dalhatu from Jigawa State, and Emmanuel Ayodele Oke from Oyo State.
Their confirmation came after the upper chamber considered and adopted the report of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, which found the nominees suitable for the diplomatic roles.
The Senate said the appointments align with Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and ongoing diplomatic engagements, adding that the envoys are expected to effectively represent the country’s interests abroad.
President Bola Tinubu had earlier forwarded the names of the three nominees to the Senate for confirmation. Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the submission during Wednesday’s plenary session, which was monitored by TVC News.
