During the occasion of the International Day of the Girl Child in October 2025, Hon. Adetola Adunni Abubakar; Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA created an ingenious programme for the girl-child of Agboyi-Ketu. “Project S.H.E.”: Safety. Hygeine. Education. The Executive Chairman indeed stands up to lead the change in the lives of the school-age girls of Agboyi Ketu who were gathered in their numbers for inspirational lectures and speeches about their safety, hygiene and education.
March 5 2026, the second edition of Project S.H.E. was held at the Multipurpose Hall of Agboyi-Ketu Council Headquarters. Like a movie star, “Mummy Agboyi-Ketu” was welcome with the iconic “Love Cheers”, a genuflection the school children created for Hon. Adetola Abubakar. It was an all-girls affair, and the event was laden with love, cheers and inspirational moments!

When Hon. Adetola Abubakar introduced Project S.H.E. last year, she stated that the largesse of this girls empowerment project was not just once-off, that it would be a regular exercise to carry out enlightenment lectures on feminine health & safety and distribute free-of-charge the Project S.H.E. handout package, which contents include: Sanitary Pads, Sanitary Wipes, Tissue Papers, Deodorants, Soaps and other items of personal hygiene. Beyond the personal hygiene products, the girls of Agboyi-Ketu received life-long lessons about who they are as girls. Medical and Education experts were on ground to teach the young schoolgirls about their menstrual cycle, how to use the menstrual sanitary pad and other lessons of hygiene peculiar to the female gender. They were taught the signs to watch out for as they begin to grow into puberty and how to deal with their body hygiene at this stage of their lives.

The event was attended by school girls from all the Government-owned Secondary and Primary Schools in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA. You would just love the way Hon. Adetola Adunni Abubakar connect with the schoolgirls, creating moments they would cherish for life… With Project S.H.E., and other innovative programmes, the Executive Chairman is indeed a great inspiration to them!
