Ejigbo LCDA, Lagos—
Deacon (Dr.) Paul Fregene, the current Secretary of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has officially announced his intention to run for the chairmanship position of the council. Fregene, who aims to become the fourth Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, made his declaration after consulting widely with key stakeholders, including leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other influential figures within the community.
Fregene, a seasoned public servant with a robust educational and professional background, stated that his aspiration is driven by a deep desire to serve the people of Ejigbo at a higher level. “Having consulted widely and received the blessings of top echelons of our party, APC, I seize this golden medium to inform our leaders, stakeholders, party members, and residents of Ejigbo LCDA that I am aspiring to become the next Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA,” he declared.
Fregene has spent the last seven years as the Secretary of Ejigbo LCDA, working closely with the current Chairman, Hon. Monsuru Oloyede Bello (OBE). He commended Bello’s transformative leadership, which has positioned Ejigbo as a model LCDA in Nigeria. Fregene pledged to build on Bello’s achievements and continue the council’s journey toward progress.
His academic journey began at the University of Lagos Staff School and continued through All Saints Primary School, Yaba, and Saint Finbarrs College, Akoka. He later attended Yaba College of Technology and Delta State University, Lagos campus. His career spans both public service and the corporate world, with notable stints at the Federal Office of Statistics (now the Bureau of Statistics), Alfabeta Consulting Ltd, Chevron Nigeria Limited, and D & H Energy Limited.
Fregene also holds significant leadership roles in various organizations, including the National Secretary of the Association of Political Consultants Africa (Nigeria Chapter) and the National Secretary of the Baptist Men of the Nigerian Baptist Convention. His involvement in community activities is extensive, having played key roles in health initiatives and as a volunteer liaison officer for the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund.
With over 26 years of residency in the Jakande Estate and Bucknor areas of Oke Afa Ward, Fregene emphasized his deep-rooted connection to Lagos, proudly declaring, “Lagos is in my bloodline.” His declaration was summed up by his personal acronym, which highlights his traits: Passionate, Accessible, Unassuming, Loyal, Focused, Reliable, Energetic, Godly, Enthusiast, Normal, and Embodiment—embodying what he stands for as a leader.
As Fregene embarks on his journey towards the APC chairmanship ticket, he seeks the support, prayers, and advice of the Ejigbo community, promising to bring his blend of corporate governance and public service experience to the highest level of local governance.
