The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of an unspecified number of students following an attack by gunmen on Government Day Secondary School, Lassa in Askira/Uba Local Government Area.
The incident occurred on Monday morning while students were writing the National Examinations Council Senior School Certificate Examination.
The attack reportedly threw the school into panic, forcing students and teachers to flee for safety as the armed assailants stormed the premises.
Reports indicated that one teacher was killed during the attack, while another sustained injuries.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, ASP Nahum Daso, said security agencies had launched a coordinated operation to rescue the abducted students and account for others who remain unaccounted for.
According to the police, investigations into the attack are ongoing, while security has been reinforced in the affected community to prevent further incidents.
Authorities have assured residents that efforts are being intensified to secure the safe return of the abducted students and restore calm to the area.
