The has arrested two suspects over the alleged theft of diesel valued at N12 million at a construction site in Ibadan.
In a statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, operatives of the Monitoring Unit, acting on credible intelligence and with support from members of the public, apprehended Yusuf Mutiyat, 43, and Ogunniyan Rasheed, 64, at Kopek Construction Company in Ibadan.
The suspects were allegedly caught siphoning a liquid suspected to be diesel from a mixer truck at the site.
According to the police, a subsequent search led to the recovery of 24 barrels containing 240 litres each of the suspected diesel, amounting to approximately 10,000 litres, with an estimated value of ₦12 million.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Femi Haruna, commended the professionalism of the operatives involved in the operation and expressed appreciation to members of the public for providing timely information that facilitated the arrest.
He reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
The suspects are currently in police custody, while investigations continue to determine the full scope of the alleged theft and identify any additional accomplices.
