Top leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Oke Ogun axis of Oyo State have reaffirmed their loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde, passing a vote of confidence on his leadership and lauding his administration’s achievements as the most impactful in the state’s history.
The declaration came during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Iseyin Demonstration School Field I & II on Thursday, following the recent resignation of former lawmaker and PDP chieftain, Senator Hosea Agboola, popularly known as “Hallelujah,” from the party.
Agboola, a prominent figure in Oyo politics, left the PDP along with several of his supporters in the Oke Ogun zone. However, party leaders described his departure as “a blessing in disguise” for the PDP in Oyo State, emphasizing that the party remains strong and united.
The meeting, which drew party executives and chairmen from the ten local government areas of the Oke Ogun zone — Irepo, Olorunsogo, Oorelope, Atisbo, Saki West, Saki East, Itesiwaju, Iwajowa, Kajola, and Iseyin — was attended by key figures including Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal; former House of Representatives member, Hon. Shina Peller; PDP Board of Trustees member, Engr. Hamid Gbadamosi; and former state PDP chairman, Pa Jacob Adetoro.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Peller said the stakeholders’ meeting was convened to review the state of the party in the zone and strengthen unity following Agboola’s exit. “We are here to reassure our members that the PDP in Oke Ogun remains solid. No one has left the party except those who have chosen to isolate themselves,” he stated.
PDP chairmen from all ten local government areas also addressed the gathering, affirming their commitment to the Makinde-led administration and pledging continued support for the governor’s developmental agenda.
The leaders commended Governor Makinde for his performance across sectors including infrastructure, education, and healthcare, noting that his administration has brought unprecedented progress to Oyo State.
They urged party members to remain steadfast, describing the recent developments as a test of the party’s resilience and a chance to consolidate its internal strength ahead of future elections.
