The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State has said it will go ahead with its state congress scheduled for Tuesday despite a restraining order issued by the Federal High Court in Akure.
The party’s National Vice Chairman for the South-West, Isaacs Kekemeke, stated that the congress would hold as planned, stressing that neither he nor members of the congress committee had been officially served with any court injunction.
According to him, the party’s national headquarters has not communicated any notice of a restraining order to him in his capacity as zonal chairman or to the congress committee handling the exercise in the state.
On Monday, the Federal High Court sitting in Akure restrained the APC from conducting the state congress slated for March 3, 2026. The court also nullified the ward and local government congresses earlier conducted by the party on February 18 and 21.
In an ex parte order, Justice Toyin Adegoke barred the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission from proceeding with the congress pending the determination of a substantive suit before the court.
The APC had earlier scheduled March 3 for its state congresses nationwide and concluded preparations for the exercise in Ondo State.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Ondo State Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaye, the party maintained that the congress was duly approved by its National Working Committee and would proceed as arranged.
