Members of Olusosun Barbers’ Association met with the Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo, in his office at the Council Secretariat.
These members expressed their gratitude to the Chairman for his open-door policy, people-oriented leadership, and commitment to inclusive governance within LCDA.
They made known their plans to organize a seminar and empowerment program for all barbers within the LCDA to foster unity, love, and collaboration.
They however appealed to the Chairman to consider their inclusion in the council’s future empowerment programs, noting that barbers in the area had often been left out in previous exercises.
Hon. Onifitila Sulyman commended the Moyosore Adebanjo-led administration for its commitment to inclusivity and community development. He expressed his delight over the association’s engagement and assured members that the Chairman has their best interests at heart. “Be rest assured that this administration will make a new dawn possible for barbers in Onigbongbo,” he said.
The Chief of Staff, Hon. Seun Abiodun, also spoke during the meeting, “United we stand, divided we fall.” He reaffirmed that the Chairman has several plans in motion for artisans and small business owners across the LCDA, urging the barbers to continue to work in unity and trust the administration’s vision.
In response, Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo appreciated the members of the association for their visit and for recognizing the efforts of his administration. He emphasized that everyone in the community is a critical stakeholder in building a better Onigbongbo. “Whatever you do is valid; it is not until you get a white-collar job. Your craft and skill contribute to the economy and to the identity of our community,” he said.
In a remarkable announcement, the Chairman revealed plans to sponsor 3–4 barbers to China for advanced training and to acquire modern barbering kits, a move aimed at enhancing professionalism and capacity within the sector.
In appreciation of the Chairman’s support, the Olusosun Barbers’ Association pledged to offer free barbing training exclusively for residents of Onigbongbo LCDA as their contribution to youth empowerment and community development.
